Improving home comfort with genuine double glazing.

When it comes to improving your home comfort by increasing the insulation performance of your windows, there are many products available in New Zealand to choose from.  We believe that understanding the differences in these products is key to making the right choice for your home.  This includes making sure you purchase genuine double glazing.

What is genuine double glazing?

Genuine double glazing consists of two pieces of glass connected by a hermetically (air-tight and water-tight) sealed spacer and filled with either air or argon gas.  To be considered as genuine double glazing, it must meet BRANZ tested standards.  retroGLAZE® partners only provide genuine, durable, BRANZ tested solutions.

Our double glazing is genuine!

What other options are available?

– double pane window glazing – two panes of glass glazed in separate rebates

– magnetic frames – a magnetic frame that is attached to existing windows

– DIY acrylic panes – acrylic panes fitted to the existing window

– Low E window film – window film applied to the glass to give a similar performance to hard-coat single glaze Low E

– thermal glass coating – painted-on coating that performs similarly to hard-coat single glaze Low E

– bubble wrap – bubble wrap applied to a wet window to enable suction

– shrink wrap – plastic film taped onto the window frame then heat applied using a hair dryer

Aesthetically, investment-wise, and most importantly performance-wise most of these options do not measure up or provide the same insulating performance as genuine double glazing
